Practical Information

This section is designed to answer common questions and ensure you have everything you need for a smooth and enjoyable visit. It covers essential details such as directions, check-in and check-out times, parking arrangements, local amenities, and much more. Our goal is to take the stress out of planning, so you can focus on enjoying your stay.

Check-in and Check-out

Check in is from 3 pm.

Check out is before 10 am.

Early check-in is never possible but, when possible, we do provide late check-outs.  In this instance the first hour is free, but there is a charge for each hour after that.

Travel and Parking

All of our properties are in rural locations and we strongly suggest that you bring a car. However, there local train stations at Belper, Cromford and Matlock if some of your group wish to travel by train.

If you decide to travel as a group and hire a larger vehicle, don't order anything larger than a minibus. All of our properties are surrounded by country-lanes that are impassable by coaches and large buses.

PARKING

We do have private off-road parking at Standlow Farm, Stainsborough Hall and Holly House. But, this generally isn't expansive, so we allocate one car per bedroom. So if you've booked a two-bedroom cottage it's two cars, a 10 bedroom house its ten cars. etc.

Parking at the Old Post Office is on free of charge but on the road outside the property. This is a quiet village and parking is not usually a problem, we just ask that you are mindful of the drives of our neighbours.

ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING

We do not have an electric vehicle chargers on site and it's not acceptable to use a 'trickle' or 'granny' charger due to the fire risk. We do provide details about where to charge your car in our guidebook.

TAXIS

There is very limited Uber coverage in this area, and we strongly recommend that guests book taxis in advance as they don't tend to be able to turn up at short notice. Below is a list of potential taxi companies that can be pre-booked.

Hot Tubs

We offer hot tubs at Standlow Farm (Highview Grange, Foxglove Cottage and the Barn), Holly House and with the Main House at Stainsborough Hall, inviting you to soak away the stress of everyday life. Enjoy a tranquil escape combined with modern comforts, ensuring your stay is both relaxing and unforgettable. (Additional Fees do apply)

About the Tubs at Standlow and Holly House

The hot tubs at Standlow Farm and Holly House are regularly maintained and are emptied, cleaned, and refilled before your arrival. On days where we have a one-day turnaround, the hot tub may not be up to temperature until late evening/early the next morning.

The hot tub must never be switched off at the mains. Only authorised maintenance personnel are authorised to control the mains power.

Hot tub cleanliness is paramount. For your own safety it is essential that the water is kept clean, as failure to do so results in the water balance changing, which seriously diminishes the effectiveness of the sanitising chemicals.

Our authorised maintenance personnel check the chemical balance of the hot tub prior to your arrival and if you are staying for more than two days, we will monitor the levels of micro bacteria, water balance and quality during your stay. Water balance/chemicals will be adjusted as necessary, and results recorded. This procedure is a safety requirement for hot tubs in holiday properties and ensures that the chemical balance of the water remains continuously safe throughout your stay.

If upon inspection the hot tub is found to be dirty due to misuse, it may be necessary for us to empty the hot tub and switch it off. We reserve the right to turn the hot tub off for the remainder of your stay, and charge a £75 cleaning fee or any additional damage costs.

If at any point during your stay you have concerns about the water, please call us immediately.

About the Hot Tub at Stainsborough Hall

The Hot Tub at Stainsborough Hall is a log-fired hot tub that you'll find on the lawn below the Ha-Ha in a secluded area.

Before you arrive, the Hot Tub will have been cleaned, filled and the necessary chemicals added to ensure that you are safe during your stay and the water heated.

This type of hot tub can only be used once before the water has to be emptied, cleaned and re-filled. Therefore, we have budgeted for this to be done twice during your stay and someone from the company we use to manage our hot tubs will arrive to clean and refresh the hot tub, during your stay. Grace will discuss timings of this with you.

There are two buttons on the hot tub. One switches on the jets and the other switches on the lights in the hot tub.  Please do not leave a fire burning unattended overnight or if you leave the house.

Hot Tub Rules

It is very important to us that the hot tubs are used safely and you will be asked to agree to these terms before you arrive to use our hot tubs.
